We live in town and rarely would drive to Aiea for Korean food since our close proximity to Ke'eaumoku where all the "good" Korean food is located. However, after seeing this restaurant in many food bloggers IG feed, I made it a point to try this place and see what the fuss sis about. So you need to know how it hat this is a small restaurant that shares a tiny parking lot with Dave's Ice Cream so.. if the lot is full you're SOL like fo' realz. We showed up at 6:45 pm on July 4 but this place was packed, we were lucky to snag the last 2 top table. You have the option to walk up and order takeout from a menu on the wall or.. dine in. That's what we did. For some reason the air condition was either busted or it couldn't handle all the people and cooking so needless to say twas a bit warm so thank god we were in shorts and tank tops. So... the prices didn't shock me but also did at the same time. Each dish pretty much started at $19 and only went up from there. Not gonna lie... It got me nervous thinking we made a bad decision. But.... The food was bomb! Now I've dated Koreans, have had and grown up with many Korean friends and my sister in law is Korean so we are Filipinos that have been exposed to all the Korean foods good and bad. The portion size was pretty hearty. I ordered the barbecue chicken ( there's a spicy version) and I had 3 1/2 huge thigh pieces. Very well seasoned, not too sweet, not too salty or not dry from over marinating for too long. These juicy pieces came out cooked to perfection and had those grill marks and flavors of an actual bbq. My son ordered the meat juhn of course and that also came with 3 large pieces, pre cut ( I hate when it's not) also season well and cooked to perfection. I have a growing boy for can EAT and destroy a whole plate in 5 mins but he got full after eating 1/2 of his entree which I also stole a few pieces from. The sides were basic and as to be expected. The Kim chee could've been spicier to our liking and they gave 2 heaping scoops of rice. There was only 1 waitress and possibly only 2 people inter ack cooking.. we had a short wait to order but our food came out quickly and sizzling almost. This place will get my business for sure. I'm thinking the a try best time to come here and not have to fight for a parking spot or tank would be week nights or after lunch rush. I would give 5 stars but it was warm in there...

The best Korean Food I have ever tasted, I've been in many Korean restaurants all the way from New York City, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Arizona, and Florida and when I took a trip to Hawaii this restaurant had the best quality Korean foods that were authentic. I highly recommend their BBQ chicken as the Cooks make it perfectly all the way from its tenderness and juiciness including their short ribs too. The service was also amazing, the waiters were super nice, and my girlfriend also had a great time. This is definitely worth your time during your vacation, this place sort of feels like home.

Newtown is a really homey and cozy Korean restaurant with a lot of local favorites and authentic Korean dishes. It's right next to Dave's Ice Cream - I had a great weeknight date here! This spot is open until 9 pm and we came in around 8pm and the service and food was quick and friendly! We ordered their meat jun + fish jun combo and their bibimbap. They also had an array of banchan side dishes. My fav banchans were the fishcakes and eggplant- love a Korean spot with delicious banchan! I love jun and hate making the decision between fish, meat, or veggie jun. I love that we can order a combo and get two of them! I think next time I'll get the fish and veggie jun. I do wish that they had hotstone bibimbap for the crispy rice, but their regular bibimbap was still very good and felt nourishing! If I lived super nearby, I could see myself being a regular here!

TLDR: The best Korean food that I've had in O'ahu. Large portions with very good flavors. I normally don't go to the same restaurant twice during the same visit, but this was the exception. Side Dishes: Stock standard. I find it hard to differentiate between these, so they won't really move the needle for me. Chap Chae: Chewy, well balanced, portioned well, and seasoned well. It may not be the best I've had, but it sure is up there. Bibimbap: There's something about nailing that fine balance of ingredients and rice within a bibimbap that is not discussed enough. I don't know how they did theirs, but I just found myself really enjoying it. The rice was soft yet offered some crunch in certain parts. All the vegetables felt and tasted fresh, and the beef was good. Kal Bi: It's not hard to mess up how to cook and marinade a Kal Bi, they certainly kept it by the book and it paid off. BBQ Chicken: Juicy chicken that can feed a family of 3. Good marinade as well. Bibim Koo Soo: It's my first time trying this Korean cold noodle dish. I absolutely love it. It holds its own well but it becomes amazing when paired with the Seafood Tofu Soup. Seafood Tofu Soup: Finally, a Seafood Tofu Soup that actually has a bunch of seafood in it. Everything inside tasted fresh and was cooked nicely. The heat of the soup was there yet it won't overpower the flavor. Fried Items: The batter isn't too heavy but it's good. Nothing was over or undercooked. Well done. Service: Very kind ajummas who are constantly on their feet making sure everybody was well taken care of. Ambiance: It felt like..... home? The place honestly could've been a house that was repurposed to become a restaurant. No complaints from me.

We've eaten here twice, the first time was excellent, the second time was pretty good, but the atmosphere was a little bit off. Normally I don't care too much about ambiance at a restaurant, but we were almost the only people in there and there was an older woman there watching something on a tablet, I think she was probably family. I don't mind that at all, but she had the tablet like REALLY REALLY loud. I mean REALLY loud. It seemed like some sort of game show or something, but it really made it hard for us to have a nice dinner. We're polite, and we figured maybe it was an older family member hard of hearing so we didn't really say anything, but I figured the owner should have realized how loud it was. It was just uncomfortable. The bbq chicken we got was pretty good, and the zucchini jun was good as well. My wife said the meat and fish just was just okay. We would probably order from here again, but more likely takeout.

Clean and small place, generous portions and really friendly service. My first time here, I really liked the flavors and can't wait to come back and try more things. The parking lot is a bit small, but we managed to find parking.
